For the engineers and mechanics of Eurolamp WRT, like for their colleagues of other teams, Saturday began on Friday evening. During one hour evening service they had to reconfigure the car from gravel to tarmac settings because next day was tarmac day.
As noted Valery Gorban before Rally de España, tarmac stages are not a strong side of the crew. Moreover it need to remember that before that Spanish race the duo of Eurolamp WRT didn` t pass any racing tarmac kilometer on the WRC car. So it was more pleasant and valuable fact that Ukrainians overcame tarmac Saturday of Spanish race without any problems.
During the day Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia were holding nearby top-20 of stages’ list results. (The best crew’s results were 23th position on SS13 (21 km) and SS14 (24 km), and 21th position on 2-km closing day stage SS15). So due to their stabile performance Eurolamp WRT duo raised up to 16th row on the interim race classification.
«It was good day for us. The car worked reliably. We avoided any mistakes. But a lack of tarmac experience obstructed us in our effort to race as speedy as we wanted and needed. But we are learning. And we are going to try tomorrow to use all that we have learned already», — summarized tarmac Saturday Vladimir Korsia.
Final day of Rally de España was a tarmac day too. On Sunday the participants of the race had to overcome 63 kilometers of last four special stages.
